ADP Global EOR, powered by RemoteTM

HIRING SOMEONE ABROAD ISN'T THE HARD PART. BEING THEIR LEGAL EMPLOYER IS.

Your next great hire may not live where your business is registered. ADP Global EOR, powered by RemoteTM, helps you employ them compliantly in a new country without setting up an entity there, leveraging Remote’s Employer of Record services, while tracking them in ADP Workforce Now® alongside the rest of your people.

It almost never starts as a global strategy

It starts with one person.

  • A role you've been trying to fill for four months, and the best candidate lives in Portugal.
  • An employee who relocated and wants to keep their job.
  • Three people in Canada who came with an acquisition.
  • A team lead who moved home to care for a parent.

Each one arrives as a one-off. Each one gets solved its own way, by whoever is closest to it. One person in one country is manageable. The problem is the second and the third.

Avoid the hidden costs of non-compliant international hiring

Hire the best candidate, not just the closest one.

When location isn't limited by your entity footprint, you're free to focus on finding the right person for the role.

Classify your people with the correct employment status.

Different countries have different expectations for full-time employees vs. contractors. Getting it right helps support your people and your business.

Keep your workforce visible.

When international employees appear alongside everyone else, workforce planning, reporting and decision-making become easier.

Stay ahead of changing employment requirements.

Local regulations, statutory benefits and employer obligations are constantly changing in every country you hire in. Having expert support helps you stay focused on growth instead of monitoring legislation.

Reduce the burden on your internal teams.

Global employment shouldn't depend on spreadsheets, workarounds or manual processes that consume valuable time.

Three ways to employ someone in another country

Set up a
local entity

Strength

Full control, and the right answer at scale

Risk

Months of setup, legal and accounting costs in every country, and difficult to unwind if the hire doesn't work out

Engage them as a contractor

Strength

Fast and low commitment

Risk

Misclassification. Back taxes, penalties, benefit claims and, in some countries, personal liability for certain roles

Use an employer
of record

Strength

Compliant employment in weeks, with no entity required

Risk

Requires a provider you can genuinely trust with your people and your data

For most companies hiring a handful of people across a few countries, an employer of record is the only one of the three that is both fast and helps you stay compliant.

Why ADP Global EOR, powered by RemoteTM

  • Hire where the talent is: Make the offer to the right candidate regardless of where they live.
  • Lighten your compliance burden: Local employment law, statutory benefits and filings are handled by the legal employer, not by your HR team.
  • No entity, no setup: Employ someone in a new country without registering a company there.
  • One system of record: Your international employees appear in ADP Workforce Now with the rest of your people, so your headcount, reporting and org chart are finally complete.

Remote EOR makes it easy to hire employees internationally, without a foreign entity

As ADP’s EOR partner, Remote employs your team members in countries where you don't have entities — compliantly, in days — through owned entities with in-house legal, payroll, and HR teams — so your people are always in expert hands, wherever they are. All starting in ADP Workforce Now®.

START WHERE YOU ALREADY WORK EVERY DAY

Begin the hire in ADP Workforce Now

Initiate international employment from the same place you manage everyone else. No separate vendor login to manage, no parallel process, no re-keying employee data

LOCAL COMPLIANCE, OWNED

Employment law in every country you hire in, handled

Contracts, statutory benefits, notice periods, filings and local regulatory change are managed by on-the-ground employment experts. Remote supports 90+ countries, providing local expertise where you hire.

PAYROLL, BENEFITS AND TIME OFF

Pay people correctly, in their own currency

Local payroll runs on local pay cycles, in local currency, with the right deductions and contributions. Localized benefits packages let you make offers that are competitive in the market you are actually hiring in, not just competitive in yours.

CONTRACTOR CONVERSION

Move misclassified workers onto compliant employment

If you have people abroad working full-time hours under a contractor agreement, you are carrying risk you can resolve. Converting them to employment through an EOR eases that potential exposure, usually without changing anything about how they work day to day.

FAQs

What is an employer of record?

An employer of record (EOR) legally employs a worker on behalf of another business. It lets you hire someone in a country where you have no legal entity.

What does an EOR actually take on?

The EOR is the legal employer, so it handles the employment contract, local payroll, statutory benefits, tax withholding and filings, and compliance with local employment law. You direct the work, manage performance and decide on pay and promotion.

Do I still manage the employee?

Yes. Nothing changes about how you work with them day to day. The EOR handles the legal and administrative side as their employer.

How is this different from using a contractor?

A contractor is self-employed and controls how and when they work. If you set someone's hours, direct their work and treat them as part of your team, most jurisdictions consider them an employee. Classifying them as a contractor creates liability for back taxes, penalties and benefit claims. An EOR model eases potential contractor risks.

How is this different from setting up an entity?

Setting up an entity means registering a company, opening local bank accounts, appointing local directors in some jurisdictions, and taking on local accounting and filing obligations. It takes months and may be the right answer when you have real scale in a country. Hiring through an EOR is much faster and may make sense for your first few hires in a market.

What is Remote?

Remote is ADP’s EOR partner, and a global employment company that acts as the legal employer for international hires, through entities it owns and operates directly. Remote supports 90+ countries, providing local employment expertise where you hire

What does "powered by Remote" mean?

Remote is the employer of record, so Remote legally employs the worker. You initiate the hire in ADP Workforce Now and your international employees appear alongside the rest of your people in ADP Workforce Now.

Which countries can I hire in?

ADP Global EOR powered by RemoteTM is available in 90+ countries.

How long does it take to hire someone?

Full-time employee onboarding can be completed in as few as 2 business days. Actual onboarding timeline depends on the country and how quickly the required information and documents are provided.
